Looking for something unique and out-of-the-ordinary for your next vacation? May we suggest a stay in our Cabin Car? Once part of the Pennsylvania Railroad, this old caboose has been completely rebuilt and is available as a rental to vacationers and hunters.
Painted red and no longer a victim of railroad dirt, this cabin car now sports lacy white curtains and red lanterns at its windows. The original rafters glisten, showing off their beautiful woodwork. A Huntingdon artist painted colorful murals on the interior walls. A ladder gives access to the sleeping loft, especially loved by children.
The Cabin Car is situated on a portion of a century old family farm, Lake View Acres, owned by Warren "Ted" and Barbara Whitsel. The area features the homestead and barn, a beautiful hiking trail to the top of the mountain which overlooks the lake, and additional trails for biking and hiking.
Located on State Route 26, one mile south of Markelsburg, close to all the great features of the lake. With nearby boat launches, the Raystown Resort and Seven Points Marina only minutes away, we know you will love your Raystown area visit. If your goal is hunting, there are state game lands nearby.
